TEACHERS in Coast region have paid tribute to the departed Kenya National Union of Teachers secretary general David Okuta Osiany. A union Coast executive member Dan Aloo said Okuta had vowed to fearlessly fight for better living standards of all teachers.
“Okuta once said quality educations means quality teachers and we cannot have quality teachers living in horrible conditions,” Aloo said. He said teachers will remember the fallen unionist for ensuring teachers lead a decent life.
Okuta died at Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi, after developing breathing problems on Tuesday night. Late last year, he had been admitted to Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu, after suffering from undisclosed ailment.
Okuta was also the president of the East Africa Teachers’ Association.
